7. EU raises heat on India over climate deal
The European Union (EU) blamed India for blocking a new legally-binding agreement, saying New Delhi was maintaining a “relatively tough stand”, preventing countries from arriving at a conclusion in Durban.India said it was open to discussions if issues of equity — the right to grow — were taken into account.EU climate commissioner Connie Hedegaard said there were two sticking points with India — the future of the legal form of the agreement and the timeframe in which countries should make the emission cuts.


8. Centre scales down GDP growth forecast to 7.5 %
            In a grim alert to the nation at large on the economic hardships that may lie ahead during the current fiscal and beyond, the government on Friday scaled down its GDP (gross domestic product) growth forecast for 2011-12 from 9 per cent to about 7.25-7.75 per cent in view of the gloomy global environment and specific negative factors at home.

1. Industry output falls for first time in two years
            Mirroring the overall economic slide owing to rising prices, high interest rates, slack consumer demand and the fall in corporate investment at home in the wake of an uncertain global environment, industrial growth slumped into the negative territory, contracting by 5.1 per cent in October this year, compared with a robust expansion of 11.3 per cent in the same month of 2010.

3. Rejection of FDI on security ground upheld
            The Delhi High Court has dismissed an appeal against a Single Bench order upholding a decision of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) to withdraw approval to a proposal to provide GSM-based mobile services by a foreign company on security ground, saying that “the security angle was a crucial factor''.

            India and the United States held talks on several issues, mainly the civil nuclear issue, in a follow-up to the Manmohan Singh-Barack Obama meeting in Indonesia last month.
